Unpaid Carers: Turning Vision Into Action

Our Annual Unpaid Carers event – ‘Turning Vision Into Action’ returned to the Swansea.com Stadium!

Here’s an update on how it went…

On the 18th September 2025, we returned to the Swansea.com Stadium for the third edition of our annual event – ‘Unpaid Carers: Turning Vision Into Action’. We had a great time hearing from Unpaid Carers and linking them with professionals and services to inspire change in our region.

Various topics important to Unpaid Carers were discussed on the day, such as barriers, identification and recognition, reaching more Unpaid Carers and shaping a better future. We heard from a variety of speakers including West Glamorgan Unpaid Carer Representatives Chris Law and Jo Phillips, Director of Neath Port Talbot CVS Gaynor Richards, RPB Chair and leader of NPT Council, Cllr. Steve Hunt and our Carers Liaison Officer, Rebecca Platt, as well as special guest Kate Cubbage, the Director of Carers Trust Wales. The event closed with some words from Swansea Council’s Director of Social Services, Dave Howes.

“It was wonderful to be a part of the third annual Unpaid Carers Event – Turning Vision Into Action. Unpaid Carers make an enormous contribution to our Health and Social Care system, so it’s vitally important that we reach more Unpaid Carers in our region and make sure they get the right support. Thank you to everybody involved”
– Cllr. Steve Hunt
