Developing inclusive, needs-led support
The Neurodiverse Workstream brings partners together across West Glamorgan to improve support for neurodiverse people and their families. The workstream focuses on strengthening collaboration, improving access to information and support, and promoting needs-led approaches that help people access the right support before, during and after assessment

Following changes to regional neurodiversity funding, the workstream has adopted a proportionate regional approach focused on areas where partners can collectively add value. This includes maintaining oversight of neurodiverse pathways, supporting consistency across local services, sharing learning and ensuring that support is not dependent on receiving a diagnosis. The workstream provides strategic leadership while enabling operational delivery to remain locally led within Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.
Current priorities include:
- Improving support available before, during and after assessment, including “waiting well” arrangements.
- Promoting needs-led approaches that do not depend on a diagnosis.
- Improving the quality, consistency and accessibility of information, communication and signposting across the region.
- Maintaining a regional understanding of neurodiverse pathways, waiting list pressures and system challenges
