Helping people access the right support in the right place

The Commissioning Accommodation Strategy Workstream brings health and local authority partners together to strengthen regional commissioning, accommodation planning and market sustainability across West Glamorgan. The workstream aims to ensure people with complex needs can access appropriate, high-quality and sustainable accommodation and support, while improving consistency, transparency and collaboration across partner organisations.

The workstream is currently focused on strengthening the foundations of regional commissioning by developing more consistent approaches to fee setting, provider engagement, contract management and market intelligence. By building a shared evidence base and improving commissioning processes, partners can make more informed decisions, support a sustainable care market and plan more effectively for future accommodation needs.

Stronger commissioning and accommodation planning will help us make better decisions, improve quality and reduce reliance on high-cost or out-of-area placements.

Current priorities include:

  • Making commissioning decisions more consistent and transparent.
  • Improving understanding of current and future accommodation needs.
  • Working with providers to strengthen sustainability and market stability.
  • Developing better data and evidence to support planning and investment.
  • Improving regional collaboration across health and social care partners.

All of these current priorities are intended to set the foundations for a future regional accommodation strategy to develop sustainable, person centred accommodation options that support people to live closer to home and stay connected to their families and communities.
