Regional Joint Working for Mental Health and Learning Disabilities
This is a key area of the Transforming Complex Care Programme, to learn more about the programme click here.
Improving coordination and decision-making
This work is focused on strengthening joint working across mental health and learning disability services. It supports partners to work together more consistently, particularly where people need support from more than one organisation or where funding and care responsibilities need to be agreed.
The aim is to reduce delays, improve transparency and make sure people and families receive clearer and more timely support. This includes developing shared processes for joint funding, pooled budgets, risk-sharing and dispute resolution.

By improving regional commissioning and joint working, we can make better use of capacity and spend more time focused on improving support for people with complex needs.
Current priorities include:
- Developing a regional approach to Continuing NHS Health Care and Joint Funding arrangements.
- Introducing shared dispute-resolution processes to support quicker decisions.
- Strengthening consistent, partnership-led commissioning for mental health and learning disability services.
